December 16, 2008
IMPORTANT DATES:
· Dec. 17~ Last day to order Make Up pictures.
· Dec. 18~ White Christmas Program 1:00 in PE room
· Dec. 19~ Class Christmas Party: around 1:40. Please send $2.00 to help cover the costs of the refreshments when you can. As of today, we have only had 6 children bring in money. Please let me know if you are interested in helping volunteer during the party. Thanks to those of you who have already let me know that you will be coming!
WHITE CHRISTMAS: Thanks for the participation in the food and money collection! We’re already showing so much generosity! Our class has collected 66 food items and $29.27 so far!
THANK YOU! Thanks so much to Joley Dixon and Mr. Randy for all of their help last Friday for our Polar Express day! I absolutely couldn’t have done it without their help. Thanks to all of the children who participated by wearing the pajamas. What a fun day we had!
TAKE HOME READERS: To help prevent losses over the break, Wednesday will be the last day to bring home books. Please try to find all books and return them on Thursday. We’ll resume right after break.
Language Arts & Social Studies: We are reading and writing about Christmas and other winter holidays, such as Hanukkah, Chinese New Year, Los Posadas, and Kwaanza. It’s interesting to see how so many different celebrations involve many of the same traditions with friends, family, and food! We’re learning more about using maps and a globe.
MATH: We’re adding up a storm, working on graphing, counting money, and telling time. We hope to begin Rocket Math and/or Math Masters in January 2009!
