Thank you to all of you who sent milk jugs in last week for our Easter baskets! Thanks also to Mrs. Carter for lending a hand while we assembled them!
TAKE HOME READERS: We’re back on track today! Thank you for all of your assistance with 100 Book Challenge logs at home. PLEASE be sure to set a timer for 15 minutes, and sit with your child during this time. IF your child can easily and independently read for a 30 minute block of time, then he or she may begin earning 2 steps at home. Not all children are ready for this, though, and that’s quite alright! Your child’s Skills Card is in the folder; please go over the skills on the front and the sight words on the back each day and return to school in the folder. Thanks for your help!
HOMEWORK: Please continue to practice Rocket Math (we’ll test on Tuesday, Weds., and Friday) and read every day this week. Thanks for your help!
Language Arts: We are incorporating our Science unit on Plants during ELA this week. We’ll be reading and writing about plants’ needs, as well as their parts & the purposes of the plant parts.
We are learning all about the features of informational texts, such as headings, captions, and subtitles. We’re learning how to use glossaries and indexes, too!
MATH: We will continue working with measurement by measuring in inches as well as centimeters. We’ll be using 6 inch rulers for straight lines and tape measures to measure around different body parts. Towards the end of the week, we’ll be learning about the symbols for “greater than >,” “less than <,” and “equal to =” as we compare amounts up to 100.
Our Rocket Math program is going so well! The children are getting faster and faster. We have children working levels C through O! Thank you for remembering to practice these facts every day by listening to your child SAY the facts from the top of the page in one minute. We are practicing with partners daily and testing on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday.
