Head phones: Everyone needs a pair of head phones to be used in our classroom on our computers. We will eventually be going to the computer lab, too. If you have not already sent in a pair, please do so as soon as you can. These can usually be purchased at Wal Mart, Ingles, or the Dollar Tree. Thanks!
TAKE HOME READERS: Thanks for all of your help getting our Take Home Reader program off to a wonderful start! Your comments are especially appreciated; they let me know how things are going with your child at home. I’d like to have the children read a new book each night, when possible. However, I will be out for training at the District Office on Tuesday-Thursday this week. I will not be here to swap out books, but we have some volunteers lined up to exchange books on Tuesday, and our substitute MAY be able to do this, too. If your child does not receive a new book, though, it’s okay. Please try to read for at least 15 minutes each day, with books from home or library books. We should be back to regular schedule on Monday. Thanks for your support!
INGLE’S TOOLS FOR SCHOOLS: Thank you for returning your Enrollment Applications! The school code is 11411 if you would still like to participate.
Parent Conferences: Thanks to all of you who have already returned your forms! I’ve enjoyed meeting with many of you already. I may be able to schedule some conferences for the 28th, during the day. I’ll let you know.
Volunteers: Thanks so much to Julie Carter, Jessica Potts, Jolie Dixon and Rhonda Finley for volunteering in our class! Their help is much appreciated! Thanks to all of you who have offered to help. If I haven’t contacted you yet, I will be in touch soon. Thanks!
Behavior cards for last week went home today. We had another large group of children with no minuses last week!
SNACKS: Thank you for sending a healthy snack that can be quickly and independently eaten by your child each day.
Reminders: Thank you for remembering library books on Tues. & remembering to wear sneakers on our PE days, Weds. and Fri.
Thank you for sending in Campbell Soup labels, Box Tops for Education, Tyson points, Nestle water bottle labels, and can tabs.

HOMEWORK: Since I will be out for the middle of the week, please review all words. Thank you for working on recognizing these high frequency words. Please be sure to go over reading these words with your child each day. We will all have an assessment on Friday. Thanks!
High Frequency Word List: can, down, just, all, said, went, too, over, not, make Please review: jump, run, and, in, is, it, can, help, got, at
Language Arts: In addition to word attack skills, we are continuing to work on short vowel sounds. This week we’ll concentrate on short i, as in chick, and short u, as in duckling.
MATH: We are using our Number Grid to look at patterns in numbers from 0-110, focusing mainly on 0-50 for now. We will continue to work with analog clocks, also known as face clocks, telling time to the hour. Our work with beginning addition facts is off to a good start, especially +1 and sums that equal 10. We’re reading number words zero-ten.
Science: During our Farm Unit, we’ll be learning about animals and their babies, the needs of animals and plants, and products that come from farms.
