YEARBOOKS are still on sale for $16. If you have misplaced your order form, just send a note.

Thank you for continuing to send in Campbell’s soup labels, General Mills’ Box tops, and Nestle Pure Life water bottle labels! Our library day is Friday. Wear sneakers on our PE days, Mondays & Wednesdays!

Homework: We will have math homework Monday, Tues and Weds this week.

WE NEED YOUR HELP!! We are missing 6 100 Book Challenge books! We’ve never been missing more than 1 or 2. PLEASE help your child search at home, in the car(s), and at grandparents’ homes. Thank you for your assistance in this urgent matter!

TAKE HOME READERS/100 BOOK CHALLENGE: Our independent reading has improved so much! Congratulations to Lee Blassingame & Caroline McKenzie for reaching their 200th steps and Drake Patterson for his 150th step.

Language Arts: We are continuing our Science unit on Living Things, along with our author study of Eric Carle. We’ll be learning more about the parts of non fiction books, such as headings, subtitles, captions, indexes and glossaries. We’re learning about the story elements in fictional stories: characters, problem, solution and settings. We are working on reading with better fluency, paying attention to commas, quotation marks and question marks in our reading. We are also working on editing our writing for spelling, punctuation and capitalization.

In word work, we’re focusing on mastering the HIGH FREQUENCY words for first grade. Please help by practicing at home! These words should be spelled easily and quickly.

Math: Our geometry unit has introduced us to flat shapes, especially polygons. We’re learning about 3 dimensional shapes, as well. We are continuing to work on fact families, place value, and combinations of coins including quarters.

Have a great week!
