REMINDERS:
Mondays & Wednesdays are PE days.

PTO news: The PTO has had a great response to the MAP testing encouragement cards. Our class will begin testing on 9/30, so it’s not too late to place an order! 

FIELD TRIP T-shirts: If you have not ordered a $6 shirt for your child, please consider doing so. We are planning 3 field trips this year. The decision was made to keep the shirts the same for the whole school, so children can possibly wear the shirts more than one year, and shirts can be passed to younger siblings down the road. Having gone on field trips for many years, with and without class shirts, I can tell you that it is much easier for the children to stay connected with the group and chaperones to supervise the students when we all match. Please let me know if you have questions. Thanks!

Homework:
This week, please look over the following “kindergarten” high frequency words:
away, big, find, funny, here, in, look, make, said, we
If your child can easily recognize them for reading, go ahead and begin practicing the spelling of these words.
(Continue to review and, can, come, down, for, go, help, is, it, little, blue, here, I, in, look, make, not, on, was, you)

READING: EVERY DAY, please read with your child for 15 minutes, with a timer. Be sure to write a title on your child’s reading log and initial it.

MATH: Tuesday and Thursday of this week.

Language Arts: This week we’ll really be working on building stamina in our independent reading. “Stamina” is sticking with something, even if it’s difficult. Our goal is to build up to 15 minutes of INDEPENDENT reading. Right now, we’re up to 7 minutes. We’ll continue to work on word families with the short a sound and the short o sound. We are working on writing more than one sentence on the same topic, using spaces between words and capital letters in the correct places.

Math: We’re working on addition and adding up to 9 this week.

As always, let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Thank you!
