JUMP ROPE FOR HEART: Our school will participate in this program the week of Feb. 3. You may continue to raise money through that week. If your child has raised $5, just return the form on the top corner for the duckie prize. Please remember that your child is able to raise money online, as well.

CONGRATULATIONS to our students with 100 Steps! Josee, JeCari, Cooper, Charleigh, Brock and Selena! 

Language Arts: We will study the author Ezra Jack Keats, famous for THE SNOWY DAY. We will learn more about Martin Luther King Jr, and we’ll read biographies of his life. In reading, we’re going to try to build our stamina for independent reading to 25 minutes. Currently, we’re just under 20 minutes. In writing, we’ll learn more about writing to give information and spelling accurately. Additionally, we’re learning more about the use of adjectives to make our writing more interesting.

SPELLING: An assessment of 20 basic high frequency words went home today. Please use this assessment to guide you in helping your child become more fluent in spelling. Spelling homework started today, too. *Please see the back for more information about this week’s word list and homework assignments.

Math: We’ll finish and assess Topic 5, addition to 20. We’ll work on adding 3 numbers in number sentences and story problems, and using facts that equal 10 to help us solve other addition facts. You can help at home by working on speed and memorization of basic facts and doubles facts. Thank you for your assistance in math homework.
