The children who are reading a minimum of 15 minutes every day at home are growing weekly! If you have any questions about this program, please let me know!
Language Arts: We are reading books by Dr. Seuss, in celebration of Read Across America! We are working hard on studying word patterns and rhymes to help us with our reading, and more importantly now, with our spelling. We will be writing silly “Seuss” stories of our own! We will be reading and writing ideas from a variety of his books. We will also read some biographies of Dr. Seuss.
Last week we read information about George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. We’ve learned so much! We will continue to compare and contrast their lives this week. We will continue to read more biographies throughout the rest of the year.
In writing, we are focusing on writing several sentences on one topic. We’re continuing to work on spelling basic high frequency words correctly. We are using our dictionaries. We’re including finger spaces in between the words as we write. We are working on writing complete sentences, with capital letters at the beginning and a period or question mark at the end.
MATH: We are learning about the signs for “greater than” and “less than.” (> <) We’re adding larger numbers by using our tens & ones blocks, our number grids, and learning how to add in columns. Continue counting combinations of coins!
ROCKET MATH: Thanks to all of you who are already working on your facts at home! Congratulations to Gracie and Jayli! They have already reached their M facts!
