FIELD TRIP NEWS: Thank you for the interest many of you have shown in being chaperones for this trip. Unfortunately, we only have 7 spaces for our class. If you filled out a request to be a chaperone and were not selected, your names have been put on a list for the upcoming trip to the Greenville Zoo. As soon as that date is set, I will contact you. If you have not sent your child’s permission slip, lunch choice, or $12.00, please do so as soon as possible.

Most of you purchased light blue t-shirts in the fall. Please help your child remember to wear it for the trip. If you did not buy one, I have a few available for $6.00. Please let me know immediately if you would like to buy one.

HOORAY! Emma North and Conner Henderson earned their 200th steps! Way to go! Is YOUR child reading for at least 30 minutes at home? Thank you for spending the time daily with your child on reading and reviewing Skills Cards.

Language Arts: We are continuing to learn the differences of informational text and stories. We’re learning more about contractions and compound words and unusual vowel sounds. We are focusing on THINKING more about our reading before, during, and after we read. And finally, we are really focusing on CONVENTIONS in our writing: spelling, capitalization, punctuation, spacing and handwriting. This week we are reading and writing about George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.

Math: We’ll continue working with Fact Families: 7+3=10, 3+7=10, 10-3=7, 10-7+3
We will measure with inches and centimeters. We are working on counting combinations of coins, as well as representing amounts in a variety of ways. We’re reviewing telling time to the half hour and adding with speed and accuracy.
