Change for Chickens and White Christmas Food Drive: Thank you for encouraging generosity in your children! Our class has collected $40.31 to buy pairs of chickens for families in Asia! That’s enough for more than 3 pairs! As a school, we collected enough for more than 30 pairs! Our class has also brought in 23 food items for families right here in Westminster. The last day is Wednesday. Already, our school has surpassed our goal of 500 items! Thank you, and Merry Christmas!

Class Party: Our party will be on Friday at 9:45. Please send $2.00 to help cover the cost of refreshments and party supplies. 

Thank you to everyone who was able to make it to our Winter Readerland and White Christmas program last week! We had a wonderful turnout. The children had a super performance, and they enjoyed showing off their classroom.

Six Flags Read to Succeed Club: Our class is participating in this challenge to increase RECREATIONAL reading time. Reading over Christmas Break would be a wonderful way to earn minutes for this incentive! “Homework” doesn’t count, but recreational reading does. Please let me know if you have any questions and have FUN! 

Language Arts: We are reading and writing about Christmas and snowmen. We’re learning new spelling patterns for vowel sounds. After Christmas break, we will start having weekly spelling lists of the first grade high frequency words.

Math: We’re trying to finish topic 4, which focuses on addition and subtraction facts to 12. We’ve also been reviewing reading graphs and writing story problems.
